This is what we do

Welcome to my practice specializing in the treatment of ADHD and the treatment of neck, back and knee pain due to injuries or accidents.

Through Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy, balance is restored to the body, pain and suffering are alleviated, and my patients are spared from unnecessary drugs and surgery.

With over 30 years of experience I have devised a system of treatment that is highly effective for children suffering from ADHD.  The treatments generally last 15-30 minutes, are extremely gentle and you will usually see results within 3 weeks.  Through hands-on treatment, the child’s body is restored to a state of balance so that the mind will be at peace.  The child may also require vitamins or dietary changes.

If your child has the ability to stay focused on a task in which he/she is really interested e.g., reading or being read to, computer games, Legos, puzzles, etc., then this is the treatment of choice.

Pain from trauma to the body, whether from a sports injury, fall or accident, can last for years and affect seemingly unrelated parts of the body.   M., age 34, had been suffering with neck pain for 8 years.  All of the practitioners he saw focused on his neck. When he came to my office, he was on narcotics for the pain and needed other medications to help him cope with the side effects of the narcotics.   In addition he was experiencing mood changes, insomnia, marital problems, and difficulty at work.  I discovered, after the initial evaluation, that the problem wasn’t due to a neck issue, but was related to a fall he had experienced 6 months prior to the onset of the neck pain.  After Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment addressing the true source of the neck pain, he was off all narcotics after only 3 treatments, back to work, and for the first time in years, pain free.

My specialty training in the true art of healing allows me to assess whether conditions can be alleviated without toxic and invasive approaches.  In addition, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment can relieve pain due to trauma in the event that surgery is necessary. S. suffered a hand injury that required surgery. He was in considerable pain after the surgery. Gentle Osteopathic Treatment to his hand alleviated his pain and facilitated a much quicker recovery.

When treating pain, what matters most is not where the patient hurts but rather why the patient hurts.  Take for example Joan who had severe right sided neck and shoulder pain for over 6 months of no known cause.  She had been seen by many other practitioners who all inspected her neck and arms.  When I saw her it was obvious that she was suffering from right sided neck and arm pain but it was also apparent that there was a problem with her left knee.  When I asked her about her knee she related that a few years ago while running she twisted her knee and had to stop running and has been limping ever since.  What was happening was that by limping she had to compensate and in so doing was twisting her pelvis which caused her to twist her back which caused her to tilt her head which resulted in pinching a nerve in her neck and now she had pain radiating down her arm.

When I treated Joan’s knee and her back, her neck responded rapidly and within a few weeks was resolved entirely.  Her knee pain resolved and within a week she was back to running again.

The osteopathic approach demands that the entire person be taken into account and only through thorough examination and treatment can a true healing occur.

KNEE PAIN is a common injury for all athletes and can have devastating consequences.  Frequently it is treated without surgery or medications and the patient can return to normal activity within a short period of time.
